I was invited to speak about how institutions can be complicit in bullying and harassment at the Academic Parity Movement conference in Bern, Switzerland, 15 June 2026.
“Stem the Bullying: The European Dialogue” brought the conversation about bullying and harassment to the European stage. Organised by Academic Parity Movement’s founder Morteza Mahmoudi, the conference fostered open dialogue about the systemic and institutional factors that enable misconduct and its damaging impacts.
I spoke about my experience of harassment and bullying in Germany, using my case to explore how institutional responses can enable and compound harm. I also discussed the reforms needed to strengthen accountability, protect those who report misconduct, and help ensure that cases like mine are not repeated in future.
